A BUSY SATURDAY at Bad Axe...

Bad Axe Public Schools will be a busy place Saturday, with four major events going on around campus.

First, Bad Axe is once again hosting the Division 3 regional track meet, which includes 13 teams from around the area. Those teams include Bad Axe, Almont, Capac, Caro, Cass City, Frankenmuth, Marlette, Millington, LaKeville, Lakers, Reese, Sandusky and Vassar. 
Field events will start around 9:15 a.m., with running to start at around 10:30 a.m.

For the first time in many years, Bad Axe will be hosting varsity baseball and softball tournaments Saturday.
In baseball, the first game features Bad Axe taking on Ortonville-Brandon at 9:30 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., Petoskey and Farwell square off. The consolation game will take place at 1:30 p.m., followed by the title game at 3:30 p.m. The winners will receive a team trophy and t-shirts.

In softball, Harbor Beach and Cros-Lex will go at it in Game 1 at 9:30 a.m., followed by the host Hatchets and Vestaburg at 11:30 a.m. The consolation game will take place at 1:30 p.m., followed by the title game at 3:30 p.m. The winners will receive a team trophy and t-shirts.

Also on Saturday, Bad Axe is hosting its first-ever girls soccer tournament. The boys program has hosted a successful fall tourney for many years, and Coach Adam Sutherland decided it was about time to do a girls event.
The tournament will be played on both fields, with eight teams competing.
At 9 a.m., Bad Axe takes on Flint Powers 2 while Marlette battles Flint Powers 1
At 10 a.m., North Branch plays Saginaw Swan Valley while Davison takes on St. Clair Shores Lake Shore.
The championship game will take place around 3 p.m., with the winners receiving a team trophy and t-shirts.

Boys Basketball Regionals - Semifinals are Monday, March 14 at Ithaca High School. The Harbor Beach district winner plays the St. Charles district winner. Teams in that district include Reese, Saginaw Arts, Saginaw MLS, Saginaw Nouvel, Saginaw Valley Lutheran and St. Charles.
That game is slated for 7:30 p.m. 

The regional championship game will be played Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Athletic-Weather Update for Tuesday, March 1

Bad Axe Schools will be closing at 11:20 a.m. today, Tuesday, March 1, due to the winter storm warning.

The Bad Axe boys and girls VARSITY TEAMS ONLY will be practicing at 11:30 a.m.
ALL other practices will be cancelled.

The girls district basketball game slated for USA on Wednesday is still on, as of now.
If anything changes, we will post it here.

1. The junior high boys hoop games at Ubly slated for today have been cancelled.

2. The girls JV/Varsity home game slated for today vs. USA has been cancelled.
We will be playing a VARSITY ONLY doubleheader on Friday night.
The girls varsity teams will play first at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game.

Our boys basketball game at Ubly slated for tonight has been cancelled.
We are working on a makeup plan.

Also, just an FYI, if we have to cancel our girls home game with USA tomorrow we will more than likely play a girl/boy VARSITY ONLY doubleheader on Friday night, starting with the girls at 6 p.m.

Varsity Wrestling Districts today at Cass City is STILL ON. Bus time is 410-415 p.m. Pick up at the junior high.

THURSDAY, FEB. 11
As of right now, everything is ON.

Practices have had to be revamped, though. Reminder, the High School gym is closed Thursday due to conferences.

SNOW CARNIVAL INFORMATION...

Hey everyone and welcome to Snow Carnival 2016, where we are going to be celebrating holidays one more time this year! Get ready because we are starting spirit week a little early this year, so listen up because here are this week’s and next week’s festivities…

           

We are kicking off Snow Carnival with Snow Day Monday (Feb. 1^st). Try to take the day off and celebrate by wearing your pajamas to school. Reminder that dress code is still in effect so make sure to keep all outfits appropriate.

Get ready to support your country on 4^th of July Tuesday. Wear any combination of all of our nation’s colors: red, white, and blue. Feeling really patriotic? Dress as an American icon.

50% of your body must be covered in all red white and blue

Embrace your inner devil on Halloween Wednesday. Deck yourself out in black and orange, or if you are feeling really spirited dress in one of your favorite Halloween costumes. However, no masks are to be worn and follow school dress code

Get ready to go on spring break early this year with Spring Break Thursday. Dress as a tacky tourist, wear your most cliché outfits of silly tourists. Examples: sunglasses, hats, khaki’s, fanny packs, high socks, etc… Reminder to go to the girls’ basketball game after school. JV game start: 6:00; Varsity game start: 7:30

Finally, to end this year’s Snow Carnival we will be celebrating National Hatchet Victory Friday. Go all out wear all your blue and gold to school and to the basketball game after school. JV game start: 6:00; Varsity game start: 7:30.

On Thursday, February 4^th at 2:00 the court video will be shown during 7^th hour. Voting (grades 8-12) taking place immediately after. The King and Queen will be announced during the half time at the basket ball game.
