A BUSY SATURDAY at Bad Axe...

Bad Axe Public Schools will be a busy place Saturday, with four major events going on around campus.

First, Bad Axe is once again hosting the Division 3 regional track meet, which includes 13 teams from around the area. Those teams include Bad Axe, Almont, Capac, Caro, Cass City, Frankenmuth, Marlette, Millington, LaKeville, Lakers, Reese, Sandusky and Vassar. 
Field events will start around 9:15 a.m., with running to start at around 10:30 a.m.

For the first time in many years, Bad Axe will be hosting varsity baseball and softball tournaments Saturday.
In baseball, the first game features Bad Axe taking on Ortonville-Brandon at 9:30 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., Petoskey and Farwell square off. The consolation game will take place at 1:30 p.m., followed by the title game at 3:30 p.m. The winners will receive a team trophy and t-shirts.

In softball, Harbor Beach and Cros-Lex will go at it in Game 1 at 9:30 a.m., followed by the host Hatchets and Vestaburg at 11:30 a.m. The consolation game will take place at 1:30 p.m., followed by the title game at 3:30 p.m. The winners will receive a team trophy and t-shirts.

Also on Saturday, Bad Axe is hosting its first-ever girls soccer tournament. The boys program has hosted a successful fall tourney for many years, and Coach Adam Sutherland decided it was about time to do a girls event.
The tournament will be played on both fields, with eight teams competing.
At 9 a.m., Bad Axe takes on Flint Powers 2 while Marlette battles Flint Powers 1
At 10 a.m., North Branch plays Saginaw Swan Valley while Davison takes on St. Clair Shores Lake Shore.
The championship game will take place around 3 p.m., with the winners receiving a team trophy and t-shirts.
